GOD’S ONE DECISIVE BLOW brought deliverance to people without hope

God's OneIn my last blog, we shared the immense pressure on the shoulders of Joseph Asscher as he undertook the job of cutting the biggest rough diamond ever found.

After studying the stone for six months, he made ONE DECISIVE BLOW to split the stone in three, and eventually he released the Cullinan diamonds – 9 major stones and 96 smaller ones.  (details of the cutting are in the previous blog)

Today, I am looking at the same subject, from a different perspective.

to bring that ROUGH DIAMOND
to its most perfect shape, radiance and splendour.

That ONE DECISIVE BLOW released the perfect beauty within.

That blow, which could have brought RUIN to the most famous diamond
was its redemption.

With ONE BLOW, THE Creator God did the ONE THING
that enabled sinful mankind to be reconciled to a holy God.

That blow, which could have been thought to have been the end of all hope,
brought redemption to all who will believe.

Ephesians 2:1-3  NASB
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air,
of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh,
indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind,
and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

We were all guilty, condemned sinners, without excuse and without hope.
We were under the control of satan and his forces,
unable to do anything to escape.

Ephesians 2:1-3  NASB
BUT GOD, being rich in mercy,
because of His great love with which He loved us,
even when we were dead in our transgressions,
made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)

“But God”

Galatians 4:4 NASB
But when the fullness of the time came,
God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,
so that He might redeem those who were under the Law,
that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Jesus, Son of God and God Himself, came to earth to live as a man in order to fully represent mankind so He could redeemed mankind and reconcile us with God.

“My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?”   Mark 15:34

Jesus knew the answer to His question, but He cried out in the anguish of being separated from His Father for the only time in all eternity.  As Jesus became sin for all who would believe, the Father had to withdraw His presence.

2 Corinthians 5:21   NKJV
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us,
that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Just as He had planned before the foundation of the world, God poured out His wrath on sin – on every sin ever committed and ever to be committed.  With that one decisive blow, redemption and forgiveness became available to all who would believe in Christ, accepting His atoning sacrifice for themselves.

No doubt people at the time of the crucifixion felt hopeless and defeated as the One they had followed was cruelly beaten, humiliated and crucified as a criminal.  But what a glorious change when they saw the result of God’s one decisive blow; when they saw the RISEN CHRIST – proof that He was who He said He was – the eternal Son of God, the Saviour of all who would respond.

Today, if you have not identified with Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, accepting His sacrifice on your behalf, you are as the ones described in Ephesians 2:1-4 (above) as elsewhere in Scripture.  You are sinners, condemned, without excuse.  You are obedient to the devil.  Deliverance is available and FREE.

Jesus said in John 14:6
I AM THE WAY, the Truth and the Life.
No one comes to the Father except by Me.

He bids you come to Him.

Acts 16:31  Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved

About meetingintheclouds

I am Cloudwatcher, a 76 year old Christian lady, happily married to a wonderful man for over 50 years. We have five wonderful sons, all with at least one University degree and in top positions in their chosen fields. One son is still single but four have found perfect wives and they have given us five lovely grandchildren. I was born in England and while I'm proud of my English heritage, I am doubly proud to be a true-blue, fair-dinkum Aussie. My husband and I are committed Christians whose first priority is to love and serve our risen Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. My life story will tell of my journey from abuse to peace. I suffered 22 years of abuse, being constantly told I was totally evil and an ugly freak: no one would ever want me, so I might as well do the world a favour and kill myself.

Your words here remind me that with God timing is everything. As the Apostle Peter said, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 We serve a remarkable God who takes the time required to bring us to the fullness of His plan for our lives!

    • So true J! I think of His one decisive blow on me 8th June 1958. What a decisive blow that was! – only one, but sooooooo effective! Of course, as you bring out, there have been many decisive blows since, as He has continued His work of changing me and refining me and leading me in His will. Praise God for each blow!

Thank you, Mentor Angela, for echoing His call for all to come to Him. God bless you and yours and your heart for Him.
