A family was driving from Fort Lauderdale to Tampa, Florida. All the way, as far as the eye could see, orange trees were fully laden with fruit. The further they drove, the more they looked forward to a lovely fresh orange juice with their lunch.
They stopped for lunch and ordered a large glass of fresh juice each while their meal was being prepared. The waitress apologised that she was unable to provide fresh juice. Unbelievable! There were millions of oranges around. They had oranges for sale and sliced oranges garnished the meals.
What was the problem? Their juicing machine was broken.
They had become so dependent on a machine, that when it broke down, they couldn’t supply drinks! They had a plentiful supply of oranges, but couldn’t (didn’t) use them!
We all have at least one Bible at home, possibly many
– but do we feed on the Word?
We have all been given at least one spiritual gift
– but do we use it?
We have all been given a complete set of armour
– but do we put it on?
We have all been given access to the throne of grace
– but do we use it, many times a day?
We have all been given the promise
of the abiding presence of our Saviour
– but do we acknowledge Him?
We have all been given a ‘way of escape’
when faced with temptation
– but do we look for it?
We have all been given victory over the devil and his forces
– but do we ‘submit to God’ to gain that victory?
We have all the promises of God,
with full guarantee of fulfilment
– but do we claim them?
The problem isn’t a lack of food, but a worldly-influenced appetite.
The problem isn’t a lack of food, but a lack in our dedication
and thereby a lack in our growth and in our effectiveness.
Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Colossians 3:1-3
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth,
for you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
2 Peter 1:3-4
His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
by which have been given to us
EXCEEDINGLY GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES,
that through these
you may be PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE,
having ESCAPED the CORRUPTION that is in the WORLD.
James 4:4
Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?
Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world,
makes himself an enemy of God.
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind
If there is NO FRUIT in my life, there is NO REASON for my EXISTENCE.

Sadly, it is true that we fail to use all the tools our gracious God has provided. I wonder what difference we might see in the world if all His blood-bought, adopted children used his provisions for us to live victorious Christian lives?
We serve an amazing God!

Happy Thanksgiving Day sent to you and yours across the oceans good friend! Fantastic illustration Angela… and truth. The Bible knows of no one being saved and not bearing good fruit. The amount may vary, but the Vine-dresser insures there will be grapes in His vineyard. This of course is a very good thing on a multitude of levels, of which the least is not that we identify with our Savior and Lord by doing as He did. Blessings…

Thanks Mike. What an enormous privilege it is to be used by the Creator of this universe to bring forth fruit to His praise and honour! It is such a privilege that we should be ready to be used 24/7/365.
If there is no fruit in my life there is no reason for my existence.
If there is ‘little’ fruit in my life, I should be seeking a reason why there is not a lot more – what is preventing my availability.
What an amazing God.

A powerful and timely message Angela! The time has come for the people of God to be prepared as a birde for the bridegroom!

“The time has come” . . . Amen! The time has come, and has always been, but surely time is running out and the necessity becomes urgent.

Angela, I especially like this: “Our problem is not a lack of food, but a lack in our dedication and thereby a deficiency in our growth and our effectiveness”. Thanks for the reminder. God has given us the blue print for spiritual growth, but we fail to read the manual. We stash it away to gather dust, and then we wonder why we have become spiritually bankrupt. We have become like the restaurant owner who had plenty of oranges, but nothing to extract the juice.

Thanks Noel.
As you say, we need to study the blueprint – to read the Manual. Holy Spirit is always ready and willing to extract the Juice for us, giving us understanding and the right application, but we need to make the first move.
What an amazing God who is ALWAYS available and will ALWAYS satisfy our spiritual appetite which puts to death our worldly appetites.

Thank you Heavenly Father for your child Angela, who shares the truth of your Word with all who will read/heed!! Bless her abundantly as she blesses others. May she continue to glorify and honor you… and I ask that Your will be done in her life and the lives of her family members.
In the precious name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
Amen

Stephanie, thank you!
I sometimes wonder about the time spent here and whenever I do, the Lord sends me someone like you to show me He wants me to continue in the ministry to which He called me and for which He enables me.
You were used by Him and I praise God for you. I know He will continue to bless you and use you to bring His blessings to others.
Angela.

“If there is NO FRUIT in my life, there is NO REASON for my EXISTENCE”… How true!!!
How often do we fail to take advantage of all that He has graciously supplied to us to equip us for service. This posting is another blessing to my heart Lord bless you..

Rob, that quote has been a challenge to me for many years. If there is no fruit in my life, it means the ‘Life within’ is not active and if He is not active, it means I am in some way preventing Him from shining forth. I am trying to replace His rightful place on my throne. Thankfully, my amazing God gives me no peace until I again submit.
My other favourite quote is one found in the journal of Jim Elliot:
“So live, that when you come to die, you have nothing left to do, but die”

I agree with shofar above! The words “worldly influenced appetite” grabbed my attention. Boy, that can be so true. Praying tonight for my hunger and thirst for the things of God, which are provided for me in Christ, to grow and grow! Let us bear fruit, in season and out!
God bless you and thank you, Angela! Wonderful post!!

Thanks Debbie. The fact is that ‘worldly influenced appetites’ are NEVER satisfied. The momentary ‘pleasure’ they afford is soon dashed and we are left seeking again. We need to learn once and for all that the ONLY satisfaction is found in surrender to the ONLY One who gives full and complete and lasting satisfaction.
Now none but Christ can satisfy
None other Name for me!
There’s love and life and lasting joy
Lord Jesus found in Thee!
What an amazing God!

Thank you. It is our privilege to be called to serve the living God and we do ourselves a disservice by not giving Him our all.
