One sunny day, little baby camel asked big mummy camel why camels have such big feet, such long eyelashes, and such a big hump.

Mum explained, “Well, in the desert we need big feet to walk safely across the shifting sand. We need long eyelashes to protect our eyes from sandstorms, and we need a big hump to carry water on long journeys across the deserts.”

Baby camel could see the wisdom in this explanation, but had doubts and asked, “That all makes sense. We are designed well, but if we are designed for the desert, why are we here in a zoo?”

Good question! Camels were designed to live in deserts.

Those who name the name of Christ
were designed to continue the work of Christ
in the deserts and wildernesses of our world.
We are equipped with faith and the promises of God
and the power and the leading of the Holy Spirit to work there.

We are equipped for service.
We are called to be witnesses: to reach others with the Gospel.
We have all the resources of heaven at our disposal. 

Why are we in our comfort zones?
Why are we not using the equipment supplied to us?
Is there any excuse?
Sure, we can say we do our little bit,
but the fact is that if we lived as we should be living,
the world would be turned upside down.
