It was only a little . . .
Trans World Airlines constructed what was intended to be an electrically perfect room. It was an 8ft x 10ft room built at Fairfax Airport in Kansas City, in which mechanics could work entirely sealed off from all electrical distractions.
Very special construction techniques were employed, but when it was completed, an ohmmeter reading revealed there was a small amount of conduction somewhere in that room. After many hours of searching, testing and measuring with all kinds of detectors and gauges, the trouble was found.
The culprit was lead pencil marks placed on the timber by the carpenters when they measured the wood for sawing.
The graphite in the pencil lead was only a VERY TINY THING but it was responsible for the problem.
There is no such thing as a “little” sin in God’s eyes.
The things we tend to brush off as “little” sins still mar our fellowship
because SIN IS SIN and sin ALWAYS separates us from God.

Those who value their relationship with their Father God know that just the TINIEST thing can mar their close fellowship. No, God doesn’t love us any less. He doesn’t withdraw His blessings from us, but SIN SEPARATES [Isaiah 59:2. Psalm 66:18] and the CLOSENESS is broken until we confess and repent.
Unconfessed sin – a critical thought, a harboured grudge, doubt, fear, anger, an unloving gesture, harsh words, failure to show compassion etc may be the “pencil mark” which interferes with our contact with God and our fellowship with one another.
If we have “pencil marks” marring our fellowship we need an eraser –
and praise God we HAVE one.
The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanses us from all sin [1 John 1:7]
and not only cleanses us but completely removes the sin [Psalm 103:12]
To have the closest fellowship with our Lord
we need to keep short accounts with God.

I know from my own experiences in life the truthfulness of what you say.
At times, during my Christian life, I have allowed sin to slip in. What a horrible feeling it is… something just isn’t right in my heart. I know the Lord is still with me, His saving grace is still upon me, but my fellowship with Him is hindered.
It is much like when I would disobey my earthly father, I was still His son, He still loves me and cares for me; but it just wasn’t right between us. Thank the Lord He is patient and longsuffering, being willing to restore that hindered fellowship as soon as we turn to Him in repentance!

I cannot relate to grieving an earthly father or knowing his love – but I sure can relate to grieving my heavenly Father, knowing of His grief but also of His boundless love and His patience in drawing me back to Himself.
God’s blessings are abundant and only unlimited because of our unwillingness to receive.

Hi Angela,
The message in this post, is quite significant! I find it interesting, how individuals make attempts to justify sin, as a necessary evil, for example. At no time, is sin justifiable. Neither is it quantifiable. God doesn’t measure our sins, but through the blood of Jesus Christ, He eradicated sin.
There are no BIG sins, nor are there LITTLE sins. The wages of sin are the same for a “little white lie”, as is for the act of adultery, or any other sinful act, if left unconfessed, and without repentance.
Even when sin is committed, Jesus still loves us, but he hates the sinful act. Because He loves us so much, I John 2:1 says, “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate (intercessor, or a person who pleads for, or in behalf of another) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” Thank God for the blood, that washes white as snow!

I am always pleased to see you here and to read your words of wisdom.
I am constantly amazed at the number of people who say “Oh well, it was only a little sin, so God will forgive me.” I think it shows a complete misunderstanding and very often I will ask them for their idea of God and who He is – not in a challenging way which would get their backs up, but in a friendly way, praying for an opportunity to reveal the Truth. We can’t push if there is no response, but we can chip away at the quarry, knowing that every little bit has an effect.
