DO THEY KNOW YOU IN HELL?
I can’t remember all the words but Steve Camp’s song of a number of years ago asked the question:
“Do they know you in hell like they know your Christ?”
What is your reputation in hell?
Do you cause TROUBLE for satan?
Do you cause satan to TREMBLE when he sees you pray?
Do you cause agitation among the demons in hell
when you witness for Christ?
Do you cause satan to flee when you submit to Christ
and resist him in His power?
. . . . . or does satan say . . . . .
“JESUS I know, and PAUL I know, but WHO ARE YOU?”
In Acts 19:13-20 we read of the sons of Sceva who tried to duplicate the miracles which were being performed by Paul in the Name of Jesus. They tried to expel an evil spirit from a demoniac. They used the right words, but they had no power. The demon did not obey, but cried out, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”
I like FB Meyer’s amusing comment on this:
When the sons of Sceva started on the demon, he turned on them, and said, “You little dwarfs, you lilliputians, who are you? I know Paul! I don’t know you, I have never heard about you before; your name has never been talked about down in Hell. No one knows you, nor about you outside of this little bit of a place called Ephesus.”
So that is the question I put to myself and all Christians today:
Does anyone know me in hell?
Are they frightened of us (of the power of Christ in us)
Do they know that when we command them in the Name of Christ
they are defeated?
Are they concerned when we teach, preach and witness?
. . . . . or do they say . . . . .
“I don’t know you. Go ahead and do your work. You don’t bother me.”
